HUGH STARKEY has represented individuals, businesses, and non-profits in a variety of legal contexts for over twenty years. Mr. Starkey’s practice concentrates in real estate matters, where he has counseled buyers and sellers of commercial and residential property in purchase/sale, financing, leasing, and condominium transactions. He also possesses significant experience in zoning and land use analysis and has represented client projects before municipal permit-granting authorities.

Mr. Starkey additionally advises clients in business matters, such as corporate and other entity formations, business and asset acquisitions, secured lending, employee relations, and licensing and other contractual arrangements.

Other aspects of Mr. Starkey’s practice have extended to litigation of intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks and copyrights), business and intra-corporate disputes, and land rights, including trials and appeals.

Mr. Starkey is a graduate of American University Law School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.A., History, with distinction), and formerly served as a staff member in the U.S. House of Representatives. He is admitted to the bars of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the District of Columbia (inactive), as well as to practice before the U.S.  District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Mr. Starkey has three children and he is engaged in a number of community, civic and youth sports pursuits, and enjoys reading, the arts and outdoor recreation.
